The Mystery of the fast charger at York

The mystery is that there is no mystery, I just had the wrong connector on the end of my charging lead !!.

I visited our local (they are very good in Halifax) Nissan and borrowed a type two lead and realised it was different to mine.  I called EV Connectors and the very helpful lady arranged for mine to be picked up by courier the next day, checked and the correct one posted out a day later.  Yes they sent me the wrong lead in the first place but their support service was really excellent. So no harm done.  Toddled off to the McArthur Glen retail outlet outside of York to give it a whirl on Sunday and it plugged in no problem  gaving us a reasonable charge for the one and a half hours we were off shopping, enough to get back to Halifax without worrying about our range.

This little covered shopping centre is a really nice run out for a bit of inexpensive, discount shopping, a nice cuppa and a walk about.  Its on the A64 / A19 junction and worth a visit as it caters for up to four EV’s at a time, two type two connectors and two 13amp ones on brand new CYC posts. If you are coming down from up north you have A1 Wetherby with its one ecotricity 20 minute charger or from down south the M1 northbound ecotricity at Woolley Edge to top up on until you get up there.  We have also started to use the ecotricity 20 minute charger at IKEA at Ashton under Lyme as an emergency charger when heading over to Manchester as there is nothing at Birch Services.
