Come Saturday, Come the moment of Truth

We had arranged to pick up a fully charged Leaf Tekna at nine, due to unforseen circumstances we arrived at ten, just as well because a staff member had taken the car home and only put it on charge at nine. To say it was a £30k motor it was in a right state, baby seats, sweetie papers etc but worse still only charged to about 75%. Off we went towards The Trafford Centre as we knew they had EV charging posts available. On arrival (drove at 70 mph all the way) we pulled up into our own little EV area and plugged in then went off for a cuppa. On our return the car had just the same charge as when we left it. The Nissan RFID card didn’t work !. We headed back towards Halifax and popped into Birch Services, no charger, I enquired as to where we were supposed to charge up and it was like something off a comedy skit, I should have been asking for Garlic Bread !. So with the words of the salesman ringing in my ears “Of course it will get there and back” we set off again with the car telling us we needed to pull off and recharge. Being thick I ignored the many warnings and ended up 4 miles short on the hard shoulder and ended up calling the RAC….

I run a telephone & computer supply and maintenance business, mainly VoIP, traditional phone systems & Cloud office systems. I've been with the Company since 1981 so pre-mobiles pre-PC's. We are very keen on reducing our own and other businesses carbon output so we all work from home. The EV is just the next logical step towards being carbon neutral both in business and personally. Your kids will be thanking us for leaving a bit of the Planet for them once we push off !
